1. Purpose of this Notice
This Content & Copyright Notice explains how Mirror Reader sources, prepares, and presents books, generated translations, covers, and related educational materials.
This Notice should be read together with the Mirror Reader Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. It is intended for transparency and does not grant any license except as expressly stated in the Terms of Use or required by applicable law.
This Notice is not legal advice. Copyright status may depend on the work, the edition, the translation, the source file, and the country where the content is accessed or used.
2. Content Covered by this Notice
This Notice applies to content made available through Mirror Reader, including:
- public domain source texts and classic books;
- Mirror Reader generated or AI-assisted translations and adaptations;
- generated covers and visual assets;
- book metadata, formatting, reading interfaces, vocabulary features, tests, quizzes, and other educational materials; and
- the selection, arrangement, presentation, and compilation of app content.
3. Public Domain Source Texts
Mirror Reader is designed to provide access to classic literary works that are believed to be in the public domain or otherwise lawfully available for use.
We do not intentionally include modern copyrighted translations, introductions, annotations, cover art, audiobook recordings, illustrations, or critical editions unless we own them, have permission to use them, or reasonably believe they are public domain or otherwise lawfully usable.
For each book, Mirror Reader aims to maintain internal source records, such as the title, author, original publication information, source name or URL, import date, and the public domain or rights rationale used for inclusion.
When source materials come from public domain repositories, library collections, or archives, Mirror Reader may preserve attribution and source information where appropriate. References to third-party sources are for attribution and transparency only and do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.
4. Jurisdictional Copyright Differences
Copyright laws vary by country. A book may be public domain in one country but still protected or restricted in another country.
Because Mirror Reader may be available worldwide, the app uses a good-faith approach to content selection and may update, restrict, replace, or remove content if we receive a credible rights complaint or identify a rights issue.
Users are responsible for using content in compliance with the laws that apply to them. Nothing in Mirror Reader should be interpreted as a legal determination that a specific work is public domain in every country.
5. Generated and AI-Assisted Translations
Mirror Reader translations are generated from public domain source texts using automated translation processes, AI assistance, editing, formatting, or other internal workflows.
Unless a translation is expressly identified as a third-party translation or licensed translation, it should be treated as a Mirror Reader generated translation.
Generated translations are not official, certified, scholarly, or publisher-approved translations. They may contain errors, omissions, wording choices, interpretive differences, outdated language, or other inaccuracies. They are provided for personal, educational, and reading convenience purposes.
The public domain status of an original source text does not automatically mean that every generated translation, cover, compilation, educational feature, or app-specific presentation is free for bulk copying or commercial reuse.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Mirror Reader reserves rights in its generated translations, editorial choices, formatting, selection, arrangement, educational materials, and app-specific presentation. Users may not scrape, export, rehost, republish, sell, or use Mirror Reader translations at scale to create a competing product, dataset, or AI training corpus, except where permitted by applicable law.
6. Generated Covers and Visual Assets
Book covers in Mirror Reader are generated or created for Mirror Reader unless clearly stated otherwise.
Mirror Reader covers are not official publisher covers, historical first-edition covers, author-approved covers, or estate-approved artwork unless expressly identified as such.
Some covers may be stylized interpretations of public domain literary works. Cover images are used to help users identify and browse books inside the app and website.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Mirror Reader reserves rights in its generated covers, visual assets, app icons, interface designs, layouts, and related creative materials. Users may not copy, redistribute, sell, or reuse Mirror Reader covers or visual assets outside the app without written permission, except where permitted by applicable law.
7. No Intentional Use of Modern Copyrighted Editions
Mirror Reader does not intentionally use copyrighted modern editions, modern translations, modern cover designs, proprietary annotations, or protected editorial material without permission.
If a public domain work is based on a scan, transcription, or digital edition that contains additional protected material, Mirror Reader aims to use only the public domain source text or otherwise lawfully usable portions.
If we discover that content was included by mistake, we may remove, replace, revise, or restrict the content.
8. User Uploads and Future AI Translation Features
The current Mirror Reader content model is based on pre-generated books and translations selected by Mirror Reader.
If Mirror Reader later offers user-uploaded books, user-provided texts, custom translations, notes, or AI translation features, users will be responsible for ensuring that they have the rights, permissions, or legal basis needed to upload, translate, process, store, or use that content.
Users must not upload or submit copyrighted books, copyrighted translations, protected study materials, or other third-party content unless they have permission or another valid legal basis to do so.
Future AI-related features may be subject to additional terms, privacy disclosures, or product notices.
9. Permitted Personal Use
Mirror Reader is intended for personal reading, learning, and educational use.
Users may read books and generated translations in the app, save reading progress, use vocabulary features, complete tests or quizzes, and use ordinary app functionality in accordance with the Terms of Use.
Nothing in this Notice is intended to limit rights that users may have under applicable law, such as public domain rights, fair use, fair dealing, quotation rights, accessibility rights, or other legal exceptions.
10. Prohibited Uses
Except where permitted by applicable law or expressly authorized in writing by Mirror Reader, users may not:
- bulk download, scrape, export, copy, or rehost Mirror Reader translations, covers, metadata, or educational materials;
- repackage Mirror Reader translations or covers as another app, website, ebook collection, dataset, or commercial product;
- remove or alter copyright, attribution, trademark, or source notices;
- suggest that Mirror Reader content is an official, certified, publisher-approved, author-approved, or estate-approved translation or edition when it is not;

- upload or submit infringing third-party content to any future user-upload or AI translation feature; or
- circumvent technical limitations, access controls, rate limits, or content protection measures.
11. Third-Party Names, Sources, and Trademarks
Names of authors, publishers, archives, libraries, repositories, platforms, and other third parties may appear for identification, bibliographic, attribution, or source-reference purposes only.
Mirror Reader is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to any author estate, publisher, archive, library, public domain repository, AI provider, or platform unless expressly stated.
All third-party trademarks, service marks, names, and logos remain the property of their respective owners.
